Healing From Impossible Odds

2 years after brain surgery, Lindwall runs the RTO; was the headline in the RGJ after Jared Lindwall's completion of the 178 mile relay around the Reno and the Tahoe Basin.  MHH was thrilled when Jared came to us in the spring with enthusiasm to pay it forward with his survivorship from the most deadly form of brain cancer; glioblastoma multi-forme.

Jared joined the Scholar Squad Challenge to raise money to award one MHH scholarship through his training for the Reno-Tahoe Odyssey.  In less than a week, Jared exceeded his goal of $1000.   He then decided to raise another $1000.  In fact, Jared raised a total of $2125 to benefit 2 college bound survivors for the Fall 2016 semester.  Click on the image below for details on his crowd funding campaign.

Upon completion of the epic relay, the RGJ caught up with Jared for a post race interview which can be viewed on the link below.

Lindwall's enthusiasm is contagious on many levels.  He came to MHH with two opportunities; one was his RTO training efforts.  The other was a fundraising collaboration with Bridget Rosscup of "Literacy Not Landfill", who shares an office at the Great Western Marketplace.

Danny and Bridget share the same passion in photography and in less then two months they have coordinated a photo exhibition, for the people, by the people.  The event is called Euphotoria and takes place at the Great Western Marketplace this Saturday 6/11 from 4pm-6:30pm.

You won't want to miss this inaugural event.  Euphotoria will be featuring over 100 prints from 19 local photographers.  It is an experience that will tantalize your visual senses with amazing photography, satisfy your taste buds with catering from Cherry Bomb Catering, and delight your ear buds with live music from Mel Wade & Gia.  For more information about Euphotoria, click on the banner below.

There will be 2 check presentations at Euphotoria and one of them will be on the behalf of the results from Jared's training for the Reno-Tahoe Odyssey.

Euphotoria' s theme is an exploration into what makes us happy.  Among the silent auction and raffle prizes are an hour underwater photo shoot with Naima Underwater Photography.

....aaaaand we even have a Happy Chewbacca mask as a raffle prize.  It's the simple things, right? We look forward to seeing you this Saturday.
